A Great Buy. 1/25/10 Update: Started having trouble with the Wii (signal dropping) so am now bypassing the receiver and going straight into the display. Okay receiver but not great. Audio TV out issue --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I bought TX-SR806 couple of weeks ago. Great Value- Higher End A/V Receiver. Purchased this product hoping for more dynamic power than my Denon A/V receiver that was a couple years old and did not have the HDMI options I needed. Onkyo 806 Sounds Great-Video upconvert problem. I bought this receiver to replace a Pioneer Elite 26. Onlyo TX-SR806. Having bought the Onkyo TX-SR806 before I read the reviews my heart sank as all I could think about was having to send it back. Want 1080p switching? Skip this one. Sound quality - amazing. Excellent Receiver. I am extremely pleased with my new Onkyo TX-SR806. Large and in Charge. A great receiver with lots of HDMI connections for the price. Good Unit - Problem handling composite connection. I purchased a new Sony Bravia 52" LCD TV as well as this Onkyo receiver about 2 weeks ago. Great HD Receiver With Small Room for Improvement. I recently purchased a new Samsung LN55B650 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color from Amazon.
Awesome Receiver - You won't be disappointed! I researched receivers heavily before deciding to purchase this receiver. ONKYO TX-SR806. I am very happy with the unit,it sounds and works better than I expected,the free shipping was a real bonus as it weighs a lot ! Great AV receiver. This is the 4th AV receiver I've owned. Truely Amazing!!! Purchased this receiver 2 days ago and I can truely say I am amazed. Superb. Installed in a commercial auditorium (7500 sq ft). Onkyo receiver. love the hdmi up conversion. Great product; Very happy customer. Onkyo 806. We watch movies, yet like to rock out sometimes. Good Reciever. This reciever works well. Okay .. Not that great .. Before buying this product I have lot of hopes that it will deliver a not good sound for my HDTV and my Bose speakers . SR804 on steroids. I had a SR804, the predecessor to this product, but it met an untimely death due to owner clumsiness. UNIT FAILURE. I just set this up with my brand new speaker system and it only partly works. So far, great item. So far, I have no real complaints. Design Flaw/Failure. After 4 months the unit overheated and failed after watching tv through a sat receiver. Do you know why the price has gone up to $999 ? Onkyo 806 was selling around $620 two weeks back in Amazon and now it is selling at MSRP ($999), any reason for it ? Awesome Receiver with THX. This receiver was to replace an old Yamaha unit that was in a class above this unit back in the day. Great Product. This is my third Onkyo receiver.
Video Output issues... The SR806 is a great AVR from a feature set and price point perspective, but I had some serious glitches with the video processing that required me to upgrade to the SR876. Receiver. I love the Onkyo TX-SR806 - for 27 days, I was happy. Little blue dots in the black areas of sources < 1080p. I hooked up this system to a Panasonic Plasma TV and BlueRay player and found that whenever I played anything less than BlueRay level, such as a regular DVD in the BlueRay Player, I got tons of little blue dots of flecks in the black areas of the picture. Excellent receiver but there's a big caveat for gamers. This receiver is working great for me except for the fact that it does not work with the Nintendo Wii's component output. Now THIS is a Theater in a box! .. GREAT RECEIVER!!! well i bought this feb 20th. Porduct bad seller good. the product audio was great but there where brite blue spots in dark areas on the screne when i sent a 1080P signal into the hdmi passthrought. Clean and Powerful Sound. This is my first HDMI switching and DTS-MA/Dolby TruHD decoding receiver. Onkyo TX-SR806. The sound is great. Overpriced boat anchor. This is just a poor quality receiver.
Great clarity with controled super power. Took me a while to figure out how to set my BD player to output Dolby T-HD and DTS HD. "No Problems Here" I am feeding this receiver with three 1080p signals, a PS3, and XBOX 360 and an Apple TV. Bang for the buck. First off, one problem with the new 806, Amazon is currently in the process of shipping me a replacement unit. Very impressive receiver! The 806 is a quality receiver. Awesome Reciever. Great Choice. The Onkyo TX SR806 is a replacement for an 11 year old Yamaha so I may simply be dazzled by modernity but I think this unit is terrific. Great sounding unit.... The Onkyo TX-SR806S is an upgrade from a 5 year old Panasonic SA-HE200. An Advanced HD Receiver The Onkyo TX-SR806 will process all the latest High Definition formats flawlessly. Mmmm THX. Great sound for the buck. The sound is crystal clear and forceful, driving my older high-current Signet speakers in the front and 3 NHTs in the back (6. Should have been a 5 star, blue dots make this a bust for me. This receiver produces great sound, I have watched all my favorite movies again and this receiver produces sounds I didn't even know existed. Awesome sound and very poor video upconversion. I did alot of research on different kinds of recievers and pretty much came back to the onkyo to pair up with my klipsch speakers and a new sony KDL 52-xbr7 and a sony blu-ray player, everything blended well and I'am very happy with my choice lot's of good stuff on this reciever for the money. Blue dots when using 1080p! beware! i was really looking forward to get this receiver but it seems that majority of 806 series have this problem. If it breaks, your done for. This is an awesome unit for a dedicated single source output such as a movie theater. Top notch quality and versatility. This is a great product. It does everything. Best thing that happened to my home theater audio. Not only did this receiver tie my components together in a way that they much more automatically configure themselves, the sound is dramatically better than before. An awesome receiver.
